A mecca for Black writers and fans of Black literature, the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation offers diligent instruction, careful critique, intensive writing, and opportunities to sharpen skills while in a community of Black writers. Award competitions, public readings, and an annual celebration of excellence round out the Hurston/Wright experience. 

At the Hurston/Wright Foundation, we support emerging and established Black writers, promote the cultural impact of Black literature, and expand our partnerships to increase our reach. We are excited to continue our dynamic legacy by expanding our highly regarded workshops, author readings, and annual ceremony honoring accomplished and up-and-coming writers. 

Literary Arts Program Manager

The ideal Program Manager will not only be passionate about literary arts, but also committed to advancing equity and building safe creative spaces for writers. The Program Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and will be responsible for general program management including competition submissions, writers’ workshops, member engagement and support, and program development. Research and Evaluation Manager Leading Edge Fellow

Are you a recent humanities PhD committed to social justice and equity? Learn how you can use your skills as a Leading Edge Fellow on our project Measuring Success and Charting Our Future. Hurston/Wright was selected by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) as a host organization for a Leading Edge Fellowship which places recent humanities PhDs with nonprofit organizations committed to promoting social justice in their communities.
