THANK YOU
| As we prepare to celebrate Hurston/Wright’s 20th Anniversary our very first act is to express our boundless gratitude to the many supporters without which the organization could not exist. In keeping with our mission to discover, develop and honor Black writers we thank all the aspiring, emerging and published writers who participated in our writing contests and workshops. We also express gratitude to all the writers, who have served as award judges, program presenters and workshop instructors. We wish to use this time of celebration to also express our gratitude to the many publishing companies and literary agencies for providing generous financial support to Hurston/Wright and for providing invaluable in person advice to workshop attendants. Another big thanks is extended to the government agencies, philanthropic organizations and businesses whose generosity helped to sustain many of our programs. We are equally grateful to all the individual friends of the Foundation and book lovers who have faithfully attended our programs and lent their financial, spiritual and intellectual support during the past twenty years. There are off course no words adequate to express our gratitude for the endless hours of unselfish work provided by present and past board members and both our volunteers and staff. Please know, our appreciation for the accolades extended to us for our successes are only superseded by the abiding patients and understanding extended to the organization during times of challenge. We save the last thank you for the ancestors upon whose shoulders we stand. Ancestors who established standards of excellence for which we pledge to uphold.
