Hurston/Wright Legacy Award

2003 Hurston/Wright LEGACY Award™ Nominees

The 2003 Hurston/Wright Legacy Awards will be presented Saturday, October 11th 2003, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., to be hosted by WJLA-ABC News Anchor Maureen Bunyan. A winner and two finalists in the categories of Fiction, Debut Fiction and Nonfiction will be announced and will receive the following prizes:

  • Winner: $10,000
  • Finalists: $5,000 each

The Hurston/Wright Legacy Award is presented in parternship with Borders Books and Music. Featured guests at the Awards ceremony include authors Patrica Griffith, Colson Whitehead and Bebe Moore Campbell. During the ceremony award-winning children’s book author Eloise Greenfield will receive the Foundation’s North Star Award for her distinguished body of work.
