Hurston/Wright staff, instructors, volunteers, and literary judges spend more than 1,200 hours per month working with adults and teens in the African American writing community – but we still need to do much more.
All of our generous donors, who have contributed support to our mission and the launch and growth of our programs know that a donation to Hurston/Wright will make an immediate, measurable and lasting impact on the writing community. For example:
$5,000 provides partial scholarships for up to 12 under served participants to attend the annual Writer’s Week Workshop
$3,000 provides substantial support for the publication of the high school anthology
$2,000 provides scholarships for 2 high school students to attend the year-long writing workshop
1,000 supports the development and presentation of the annual Award for College Writers
$500 provides textbooks and reading materials for 10 high school writers
$250 supports the creation, publication, and design of the e-newsletter
$100 supports the development of training manuals for one-on-one writing coaches and mentors
$35 provides writing workshop materials for 4 students
